Head of North Korea’s Supreme People’s Assembly Engages with Russian Party Delegation in Pyongyang

Pyongyang: The head of North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) has engaged in discussions with a visiting delegation from the Russian Communist Party in Pyongyang, as reported by North Korea's state media. The meeting took place at the Mansudae Assembly Hall and was characterized by a "friendly atmosphere," according to reports.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the delegation was led by Kazbek Taysaev, secretary of the Russian Communist Party's central committee. The discussions were attended by notable figures including Ri Chol, president of the Academy of Medical Science and chairman of the North Korea-Russia friendly parliamentary group, and Russian Ambassador Alexandr Matsegora. The specifics of the talks were not disclosed.

The Russian delegation's arrival in Pyongyang on Monday marks another instance of high-level exchanges between North Korea and Russia. Both countries are enhancing cooperation across various sectors such as military, economy, and public health. This follows the signing of a mutual defense treaty last June between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Furthermore, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko indicated last week that preparations were in progress for a potential visit by Kim Jong-un to Russia.
