Seoul: The state-run Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) announced on Tuesday a significant increase in its second-quarter net income, reaching 1.17 trillion won (US$846.5 million). This marks a remarkable 928.1 percent rise compared to the same period last year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, KEPCO's financial results revealed a substantial growth in operating income for the April-June period, which soared by 70.8 percent year-on-year to 2.13 trillion won. Additionally, the company's revenue saw an increase of 7.2 percent, totaling 21.95 trillion won.
The reported earnings surpassed market expectations, as analysts had predicted an average net profit of 1.12 trillion won, based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data arm of Yonhap News Agency.
