Calgary: President Lee Jae-myung arrived in Canada on Monday to attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit, marking his first overseas trip since taking office less than two weeks ago. On the first day of his visit, Lee is scheduled to engage in a series of bilateral talks with non-G7 members in Calgary, the largest city in Alberta. Later in the evening, he will attend a welcome reception and dinner hosted by Canada.
According to Yonhap News Agency, on Tuesday, President Lee will travel to Kananaskis, a mountain resort area about 80 km west of Calgary, to participate in an expanded G7 session. During this session, he plans to present South Korea's vision for energy security and the development of artificial intelligence, emphasizing the country's commitment to these critical global issues.
Furthermore, discussions are underway to organize bilateral meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and other leaders of G7 member countries on the sidelines of the summit. A senior presidential official informed reporters about these ongoing talks, highlighting the significance of these engagements for South Korea's international relations and strategic partnerships.
