Seoul: Officials from nine member countries of an international chemical weapons watchdog received chemical defense education in South Korea this week, the defense ministry announced. The program, aimed at enhancing defense measures against chemical threats, took place over five days at the Chemical, Biological and Radiological Defense Command in Seoul.
According to Yonhap News Agency, 19 officials from countries including Nepal, Malaysia, India, and the Philippines participated in the annual training initiative. The program, which began on Monday, featured advanced technology such as multi-legged robots and armored vehicles specifically designed to handle chemical, biological, and radiological emergencies.
South Korea, a member of the chemical weapons watchdog since 1997, has hosted this educational program annually for Asian countries since 2005. The initiative underscores South Korea's commitment to international security and cooperation in combating chemical threats.
