Pyongyang: The leader of Russia's Communist Party has hailed North Korean troops deployed in Moscow's war against Ukraine in a letter sent to North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un, as reported by North Korean state media on Sunday. North Korea and Russia have shown strong signs of military cooperation recently, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the Korean Peninsula's liberation from Japanese colonial rule. Kim Jong-un had earlier sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that the bilateral relations between the two countries have reached "full bloom."According to Yonhap News Agency, Gennady Andreyevich Zyuganov, chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation's Central Committee, sent his letter to Kim Jong-un to commemorate the anniversary. In his letter, Zyuganov acknowledged North Korea's support for Russia's war against Ukraine, noting that the conflict has further strengthened their bilateral ties. Zyuganov expressed gratitude to Kim for dispatching North Korean troops to th e Kursk front-line region, suggesting that their involvement aided Russia in "liberating" the area.Days before U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a summit in Alaska, Putin briefed Kim Jong-un about his planned meeting with Trump during a phone call. This communication is yet another indication of the robust military and diplomatic cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow, aligning with the "comprehensive strategic partnership" treaty that the two leaders signed during a summit in Pyongyang in June of the previous year.
