Seoul: The unification ministry has urged North Korea to provide advance notice before releasing water from a dam across the border. This request follows North Korea's unannounced water discharges during the monsoon season, which have raised safety concerns for residents living in South Korea's border areas.
According to Yonhap News Agency, unification deputy spokesperson Chang Yoon-jeong emphasized the humanitarian importance of prior notice to prevent flooding in these regions. Chang highlighted the protection of lives and the safety of South Korean residents in border areas as a top priority for the Lee Jae Myung government. The ministry stressed the necessity of North Korea's cooperation in ensuring the safety of those potentially affected by such discharges.
