S. Koreans 5th Biggest Spenders on Social Apps in H1

South Koreans were the fifth biggest spenders on social apps in the first half of this year, according to App Annie, a platform that provides analytics on mobile market data.

Its latest report on Wednesday had the U.S., Japan, China and Saudi Arabia taking up the top four slots in that order.

Among social apps, South Koreans spent the most time on YouTube this year, averaging 39 hours a month, and the most money on the messaging app KakaoTalk.

The most downloaded app was Danggeun Market, a daily life and community information app that covers used goods, real estate, job openings, neighborhood stores and much more.

App Annie forecasts global consumer spending on social apps will reach 77 billion dollars by 2025. It expects a big chunk of that total, over 17 billion dollars, to involve live streamers and content creators.
