Phnom penh: A chartered flight carrying approximately 60 South Korean nationals detained in Cambodia on charges related to online scams is set to depart for South Korea early Saturday, according to National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac.
According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea has dispatched a joint response team to Cambodia to tackle crimes affecting its nationals, following public outcry sparked by the torture and death of a Korean college student in Cambodia. The flight is scheduled to leave Phnom Penh at around 2 a.m. Saturday, Korean time, and is expected to arrive at Incheon International Airport, located west of Seoul.
Wi Sung-lac stated that most of the individuals being repatriated are criminal suspects with arrest warrants issued by the Korean government. They will be escorted in line with the appropriate legal procedures.
