Seoul: Base subway fares in Seoul and surrounding areas rose by 150 won (US$0.11) from Saturday, according to local government officials.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Seoul metropolitan government announced that the base fare for subways in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province has been raised from 1,400 won to 1,550 won for passengers using transportation cards.
For those paying in cash, the general and youth fares have been adjusted to 1,650 won, representing a 150 won increase from the previous rate. Meanwhile, the youth fare for card users has experienced a 100 won hike, bringing it to 900 won.
Additionally, fare prices for children have been elevated to 550 won from the former rate of 500 won, applicable to both transportation cards and cash transactions.
