Hyundai Motor Partners with Google to Enhance Automotive Software Systems

SEOUL: Hyundai Motor Group announced its collaboration with Google to enhance its automotive software capabilities, aiming to deliver advanced navigation and infotainment experiences for drivers. This strategic partnership will see Hyundai adopting Google's Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS) and utilizing Google Maps' geolocation information service, known as the Places API, to improve its navigation systems.According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyundai Motor intends to incorporate information from the Google Maps service-covering approximately 250 million locations worldwide, including business hours, contact details, and reviews-to enhance the precision of its navigation services. This information will not be directly integrated into the vehicles but leveraged to augment the system's accuracy. The initiative will initially focus on Kia Corp.'s passenger vehicles slated for the North American market, with plans to expand to Hyundai Motor Co. and its luxury brand, Genesis, in international markets.Hyun dai Motor Group, which encompasses both Hyundai Motor and Kia, is investing in software-defined vehicle (SDV) technologies to offer customer-centric solutions. Song Chang-hyeon, president and head of Hyundai Motor Group's advanced vehicle platform division, emphasized that the collaboration with Google will broaden the carmaker's technological reach in the mobility market, thus delivering greater value to its customers.
