Busan: LIG Nex1 Co., a major South Korean defense and aerospace company, announced its partnership with British defense firm Babcock Marine to collaborate in the naval maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the two companies signed a teaming agreement (TA) on Thursday during the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 2025) at BEXCO in Busan, located approximately 325 kilometers south of Seoul. Babcock Marine is known for providing warship support and maintenance services.
The agreement outlines a cooperative effort to deliver integrated solutions that encompass vessel design, construction, and MRO services. This collaboration will include joint participation in new shipbuilding projects, the development of MRO solutions for unmanned surface vehicles, and the co-development of overseas MRO initiatives.
LIG Nex1 expressed that the partnership is intended to enhance the global competitiveness of both firms by blending its expertise in warship armament systems with Babcock Marine's capabilities in warship design and construction.
